I am reminded in this post of Brazil's first goal against England in
the World Cup quarter final. Seaman England's goalkeeper didn't see
the ball coming, and when he saw it he didn't need to tell anyone it was
in the Net because the whole world already knew.
This is just a quick message to reference a few questions that ought
to be bourn in mind in the shift from Blogging (and vogging) to the
themes of matter and memory - the persistence of narrative, dramatics
and genre, as well as the persistent dramatisation of social space.
I'd like to query the assumption that Benjamin's 'aura' is not
found in digital media and communication (it most certainly is); to reference the cultural faculties of memory, history and foresight found
in Bergson; to revive the 'simulation/stimulation?' proto-debate of the
mid 90s in which assumed differences in gender approaches to what would become called hypermedia.
I'd like to replay Nemo's 'what if' question:
What if the woman/girl man/boy on cam does not 'go naked'(except for Rhiannon of course, there's always one) what if they just sit there.
Communicating, bodies as texts, for days, months, years. What then?
What does this mean in the empires of narrative, drama, and ways of understanding the consumption of images and texts in hypermedia?
